1847 $1 MS63 PCGS Secure. OC-2, R.1. Osburn-Cushing b/b. Die lines are hidden within the folds of Liberty's gown just right of the shield. The first shield recess on the reverse shows faint die lines that have mostly been polished away. The Philadelphia Mint struck 140,750 silver dollars in 1847. A relatively high number survive in Mint State, making the date a popular one for type representation. Golden patina and speckled russet accents color this semiprooflike Select piece. The outer elements are slightly soft, but the centers and rims are bold as usual. Small ticks in the field define the grade.(Registry values: N2998)
