Description

1847 Silver Dollar, MS64
Choice Surfaces, Original Toning

1847 $1 OC-1, R.1, MS64 NGC. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/c. With so many of the early Seated dollars meeting their end in the melting pot, the survival in any grade is mostly a matter of chance. The existence of a Choice piece such as the present coin, however, suggests conscious and careful preservation. Though the obverse stars show a touch of softness, the central details are sharply impressed, and both sides show subtle, lovely luster beneath rich blue-green, violet, and gold shadings. NGC reports just one numerically finer representative. NGC Census: 14 in 64 (1 in 64+), 1 finer (4/25).
