1877 5C PR67 Cameo PCGS. CAC. JD-1, R.2. The 1877 is the rarer of the two proof-only dates of the Shield nickel series. The Guide Book mintage is a mere 900 pieces. At PCGS, the median grade is PR64, and only a handful of specimens have attained the PR67 level with a Cameo designation. The present Superb Gem is desirable for its aesthetically appealing toning. Powder-blue and chestnut-gold toning grace both sides, along with an arc of rose-red along the upper obverse margin. Population: 12 in 67 (1 in 67+) Cameo, 0 finer.
