Only 400 Pieces Struck

1875 $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. The 1875 quarter eagle had a famously low mintage of 400 coins, and only 40 to 50 pieces are believed extant in all grades. This AU coin shows sharp detail and partially reflective fields. Most of each side is lightly abraded with honey-gold patina, although hints of reddish color appear in the fields. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 5 in 50, 30 finer (5/16).(Registry values: P2)
