1862-S $10 AU50 NGC. A scarce Civil War-period San Francisco eagle with a small mintage of 12,500 coins. Only 60 to 80 pieces are believed to survive with just one in Mint State. This About Uncirculated coin displays typically abraded, olive-gold surfaces with pleasing detail on the devices. A rim nick on the reverse above the U in UNITED is the only singular damage. Census: 7 in 50, 16 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N4719)
