Description

1871 Liberty Ten, AU55
Low-Mintage Gold Rarity

1871 $10 AU55 NGC. A rare, low-mintage issue, the 1871 Liberty Ten Dollar had an original production total of only 1,790 business strikes. Condition is naturally a problem with this date and most survivors are VF or XF at best. AU examples are rare. The fields of this coin still show a slightly reflective quality as the coin is turned under a light--most likely the result of virtually all the mintage being "first strikes." The striking details are complete in all areas. There are numerous small and medium sized abrasions peppered across each side. A rare opportunity for the advanced gold collector. Census: 15 in 55, 10 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 264W, PCGS# 8660, Greysheet# 9392)

Weight: 16.72 grams
