Description

Exceptional Deep Cameo Proof 1867 Three Cent Nickel, PR66

1867 3CN PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. The 1867 is a low mintage proof from the early years of issuance. Only 625 proofs are believed to have been struck. Very few have survived today in such a superior condition as this piece, and just a handful are known with Deep Cameo contrast. PCGS and NGC have both certified only four Deep (or Ultra) Mirror coins. As such, this piece is tied with only two other PCGS coins. This is a deeply reflective coin that exhibits strong field-to-device contrast on each side. Untoned, the surfaces show only a couple of tiny lint marks on the reverse, and a very light pinscratch across the highpoint of Liberty's cheek (which is indiscernible to the unaided eye).
