Description
1867 Double Eagle, MS62
Semiprooflike Fields, Extremely Rare Finer
1867 $20 MS62 PCGS. In circulated grades, the 1867 double
eagle is not particularly elusive, but attractive Mint State coins
are. A group of Uncirculated pieces resides in MS60 and MS61,
leaving MS62 coins in a minority. In MS63, the 1867 twenty is
extremely rare. This collectible, yet high-end, MS62 representative
showcases staggeringly strong eye appeal for the grade, made
possible by semiprooflike fields, sharp, frosty design elements,
and a dazzling cartwheel effect. Small, scattered abrasions define
the grade but pose minimal impact on the eye appeal. A single
coppery alloy spot above the B in LIBERTY is suitable for pedigree
purposes. Population: 50 in 62 (3 in 62+), 2 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269Z, PCGS# 8951, Greysheet# 9804)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
