Bright, Lustrous MS64 1888 Three Dollar
1888 $3 MS64 NGC. This issue represents an unusual numismatic situation. The mintage was just 5,000 coins, lower than 17 of the 40 business strike issues in the three dollar series. However, its total NGC population of 425 coins in all grades is only lower than eight out of 40 issues. Mint State examples of this issue are not difficult to locate, even in Choice or Gem condition. This sharply struck example has satiny yellow-gold luster with slightly reflective fields.
