Description

1846-O Quarter Eagle, MS61
Scarce in Mint State

1846-O $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Winter-3. Lightly abraded, white-gold surfaces are most lustrous around the periphery. Strike is very soft, especially in the center of the eagle, as is typical of this issue and the other New Orleans quarter eagles of this era. The 1846-O sports the highest mintage of the denomination from New Orleans thus far, but is still scarce in Mint State, with 28 certifications combined from PCGS and NGC in 61, and only 20 higher (4/25).(Registry values: P2)
