Description

1970-S Quarter, PR67 Cameo
Obverse Double Struck in Collar

1970-S 25C Washington Quarter -- Obverse Double Struck in Collar -- PR67 Cameo PCGS. A bold, highly intriguing mint error for the Washington quarter or error coin specialist. Proof coins were subjected to more than one die impression in 1970 to bring up the design fully, but on the occasion when this piece was struck, the obverse die rotated slightly counter-clockwise after the first strike, so that the second impression left a doubled image on the obverse. The mirroring in the fields was not affected, leaving this nearly pristine proof with a high degree of overall eye appeal, while a blush of golden toning warms each side.
