1901-S Half Eagle, MS66
Lustrous and Attractively Toned Example
1901-S $5 MS66 NGC. Stunning yellow-gold surfaces are
highlighted with wisps of rose and violet and coated with cartwheel
luster. Strike is first-rate, and abrasions are minimal, as is
expected at the Premium Gem level. The 1901-S half eagle is the
second highest mintage issue in the entire series at 3.65 million,
but is well behind the 1881's mintage of 5.71 million. The only two
other dates to join the 2 million plus club are the 1882 and
1886-S.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25YX, PCGS# 8404, Greysheet# 9102)
