Description

1892-O Dollar, Seldom-Seen MS65
Outstanding Satiny Surfaces

1892-O $1 MS65 PCGS. The 1892 New Orleans dollar issue is one for which the Gem grade is reachable but a stretch for many collectors -- but higher-graded coins are all but nonexistent. This makes Registry and series specialists pursue Gems such as this coin avidly when they appear. The satiny surfaces of this untoned silver-gray coin are exceptionally clean -- note the excellent pristine cheek on Liberty -- and show little trace of other color. The roller marks on the cheek and in the hair indicate an incomplete strike but appear on many such coins, as made, and do not affect the technical grade. This is an outstanding example of this conditional rarity.(Registry values: P7, N2998)
