Description

1824/4 Half Dollar, Originally Toned MS62
O-110a, Widely Recut 4, Late Die State

1824/4 50C O-110a, R.2, MS62 PCGS. A die crack from M in AMERICA into the eagle's wing identifies the late die state of this somewhat scarce recut date variety. The 1824 Bust half overdates include 1824/1 and 1824/Various Dates as separate Guide Book varieties along with the 1824/4, and Overton specialists vie for each kind. This Uncirculated example displays original, olive-gray patina and a boldly machine doubled portrait on Liberty. Silver luster with reddish highlights add eye appeal.
