1889-S Liberty Ten, MS63 Prooflike
Among the Finest Prooflike Examples
1889-S $10 MS63 Prooflike NGC. Bright peach-gold surfaces
display strong contrast between the lightly frosted motifs and
prooflike fields. Sharply struck, there are just a few minute,
grade-defining marks scattered about. Some copper spots are visible
to the upper right part of the shield and the eagle's neck.
Prooflike examples are rare, with PCGS and NGC reporting a combined
total of only 10 eagles, with no numerically finer than this piece
(6/25). Census: 2 in 63 Prooflike, 0 finer (6/25).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2006), lot 3536.
