Description

1873-CC Seated Dollar, XF45
Coveted Carson City Issue

1873-CC $1 XF45 PCGS. OC-1, High R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/b. The 1873-CC is one of the rarest Carson City issues in the Seated dollar series (2,300 pieces struck), and one of the semikeys to the complete date and mintmark set. In their Register of Seated Liberty Dollar Varieties, Dick Osburn and Brian Cushing write, "Its mintage is considerably higher than its cousin, the 1871-CC, but apparently, many examples were caught up in the preparations for the new Trade Dollar series and melted prior to reaching circulation. Finding problem-free examples requires patient searching. High-grade examples are extremely rare."

This example is in Choice XF condition, showing all major details with only light wear. Lavender-gray and gold toning on each side appears to be original, and there are no singular marks or visual distractions. An excellent, high-end circulated example of this coveted Carson City dollar.(Registry values: N4719)
