Description

1943-D/D Steel Cent, MS67 CAC
FS-501, Repunched Mintmark

1943-D/D 1C FS-501 MS67 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Whispering Pines. The mintmark is prominently repunched, with the secondary impression southwest of the primary D. The Cherrypickers' Guide calls FS-501 "extremely difficult to locate." Indeed, Superb Gem examples are conditionally rare, and only a half dozen coins in this grade carry a CAC green "bean." The current example displays a bold strike throughout with mostly clean, satiny mint luster. A slight bluish hue emerges at certain angles, which is typical of the zinc coating on the steel cent issues. Population: 13 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 6 in 67, 0 finer (11/24).
