1884-S Half Eagle, MS64
Highest Available Grade
1884-S $5 MS64 NGC. The 1884-S has a slight edge over its
Philadelphia counterpart as far as availability is concerned.
However, it becomes conditionally scarce in MS64 and is practically
impossible to locate in higher grades. This strongly defined
orange-gold near-Gem exhibits frosted mint luster and lavender
accents. Few significant marks. Census: 20 in 64, 1 finer
