1854-D Gold Dollar

1854-D G$1 AU58 NGC. Uncommonly well-struck for this rare low-mintage Dahlonega issue. The wheat-gold surfaces show only inconsequential marks save for a single thin vertical line near the ear. Minor retained laminations are on the central reverse and the F in OF. Though the obverse field displays overlapping sets of prominent clash marks, as coined, the reverse is only minimally clashed. Census: 24 in 58, 23 finer (10/12).(Registry values: N2998)
