Description

1799 Early Ten Dollar
Rare BD-2, Small Stars Obverse

1799 $10 Small Stars Obverse PCGS Genuine. BD-2, High R.5. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/c. The PCGS number ending in .98 suggests Damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an AU specimen that has been damaged and has graffiti. The obverse is moderately hairlined and has a few small roundish digs on the portrait. The obverse field has brief, faded scratches near the I in LIBERTY and stars 4, 8, and 12. Cursive initials, perhaps JEG, are pinscratched on the upper reverse field.(Registry values: P2, N2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2624, PCGS# 98562, Greysheet# 9346)

Weight: 17.50 grams

Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
