Description
Denver Mint Quarter, MS65
Struck on a 1964-D Dime
(1964)-D Washington Quarter -- Double Denomination on a 1964-D
Dime -- MS65 NGC. The dime date is clear near the B in LIBERTY
of the quarter. The dime mintmark is effaced by the quarter strike,
but the quarter mintmark is bold. The quarter date is absent due to
the undersized host, but it is very likely 1964 although it is
possible the quarter was struck from 1963-dated dies. 1965 quarters
bore no mintmark. Lustrous and untoned with pristine surfaces. An
unusual double denomination combination; cents on dimes are seen
much more often.Ex: Fort Worth ANA Signature (Heritage, 3/2010), lot 1915, which realized $4,312.50.
