Description
1795 Ten Dollar, AU Details
BD-1, 13 Leaves, Well Defined
1795 $10 13 Leaves, BD-1, High R.3 -- Reverse Damage -- NGC
Details. AU. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/a. 1795 was the first
year of gold coinage at the U.S. Mint. Just 5,583 ten dollar pieces
were struck with that date, yet five die varieties exist. BD-1 has
a long upper left serif on the Y in LIBERTY. On the eagle's wreath,
the farthest right leaf is unfinished. BD-1 is scarce but
collectible. This caramel-gold example has relatively few marks
across the moderately glossy fields. Liberty's shoulder shows light
wear. A tiny attempted puncture on the reverse border at 10 o'clock
is the cause of the NGC designation, but the eye appeal is
nonetheless impressive.
Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
