Description

1883-CC Twenty Dollar, MS62+
Surprisingly Scarce at This Grade
CAC Endorsed, Rare Any Finer

1883-CC $20 MS62+ PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-B. A series of die lines below star 13 and diagonal die lines within the shield confirm the variety -- one of two die pairs that struck nearly 60,000 1883-CC double eagles. Always a favorite date among Carson City specialists and double eagle collectors in general, the 1883-CC becomes quite scarce in MS63 condition and rare any finer. This MS62 example with the PCGS Plus designation and CAC endorsement walks the value line between scarce and rare. In terms of eye appeal, this lustrous orange-gold example is minimally marked and greatly attractive. A sharp strike weakens slightly at Liberty's upper hair strands. Population: 5 in 62+, 7 finer. CAC: 12 in 62, 2 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N4719)
