Description

Rare Choice Red Mint State 1924-S Cent

1924-S 1C MS64 Red PCGS. One of the key dates to the Lincoln cent series to find in any grade that merits the coveted Red color designation as seen here. A total of eight coins are reported at the Gem level with this color--and thus prohibitively expensive for most specialists. Furthermore, most survivors are notorious for the dismal strikes. While the present coin is not crisp and bold, the devices and lettering show stronger definition than often encountered. There are hints of magenta and yellow-red on both sides, with traces of carbon intermixed. Always in strong demand. Population: 74 in 64, 8 finer (3/06).
