Exquisite MS66 1886 Gold Dollar

1886 G$1 MS66 PCGS. By the time this diminutive dollar was coined in 1886, the gold dollar denomination was something of a niche product for the Mint, popular for gifts but not for commerce. The gleaming yellow-gold example offered here is among the best-preserved survivors from the original mintage of 5,000 pieces. Vibrant luster and bold detail are the most recognizable features of this lovely coin. Population: 15 in 66, 3 finer (11/08).(Registry values: N2998)
