Description

1878-CC Trade Dollar, VF35
Key Business Issue

1878-CC T$1 VF35 PCGS. Coxe-4. The 1878-CC is the rarest regular Trade dollar issue. A portion of the production was likely melted after the advent of the Morgan dollar. The low mintage of 97,000 pieces was struck by one obverse die paired with five reverses. Coxe-4 shows the mintmark furthest east. A silver-gray example with minimal marks and good eye appeal. The borders of the wings display wear, but pockets of luster remain within the drapery and plumage.(Registry values: N991)
