Description

1853 Arrows Dime, PR64
The Earle-Norweb-Lovejoy Coin
Possibly Ex: Mickley-Parmelee

1853 10C Arrows PR64 PCGS. PCGS has certified three proof 1853 Arrows dimes, and this piece is second best. A finer PR65 had been graded, and a substantially lower PR55 has also been certified at PCGS. The experts at PCGS Coin Facts state that four or five proofs are known, and they claim the original mintage was just five pieces, although we are unaware of Mint documents that provide any early proof mintage figures. This lovely proof has bold clash marks on both sides. The fields are fully mirrored and the devices are sharply detailed. Delicate gold and iridescent toning confirms the pedigree to the Lovejoy, Norweb, and Earle Collections. The Lovejoy cataloger suggested that this piece may have earlier been part of the Mickley and Parmelee collections.
