Description

Select BU 1797 Draped Bust Cent, S-123

1797 1C Reverse of 1797, Stems MS63 Brown PCGS. S-123, R.4. This coin probably traces its origin back to the Nichols find, which included many Mint State examples of this scarce variety. There is a tiny cut on Liberty's cheek below the eye--a diagnostic feature of this S-123. Both sides are attractively toned in orange-brown shades that present a smooth appearance. An old, short, and not overly conspicuous pinscratch in the obverse field before Liberty's throat serves as a pedigree marker.
From the Ohio Collection.
