Straight Clip on a Jefferson Nickel
Struck 70% Off Center, MS64
Undated 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Struck 70% Off Center on a Clad
Planchet with Straight Clip -- MS64 NGC. A double mint error.
The unstruck portion shows a 5% straight clip, likely caused when
the punch overlapped the end of the stock. The planchet was later
struck widely off center toward 7:30 and is uniface obverse since
the reverse die was blocked by a different planchet, likely fed at
the same time but correctly centered.
