Rare VAM-14.17, Chip in Ear
1878 8TF $1 VAM-14.17, Chip in Ear XF40 PCGS. VAMWorld.com
calls this variety "an extreme ultra rarity with perhaps 5 or 6
known. It is among the most difficult of all the ultra-rare 8 tail
feather coins to locate." Die markers include minute doubling of
the date and hair curls, as well as a small die chip inside
Liberty's ear. This XF example displays pleasing detail with medium
