Description
1999-W $10 Quarter-Ounce Gold Eagle, Unfinished Proof Dies, FS-401, MS68 PCGS. In 1999, the West Point mintmark was reserved for proofs. Although gold eagle bullion coins of all denominations were struck at the facility in 1999, the Uncirculated finish ten-dollar gold eagles were supposed to be struck sans mintmark. Nonetheless, 1999-W Uncirculated five dollar and ten dollar gold eagles were struck, albeit in limited numbers. This is a high grade example with blushes of tan toning on the right obverse field.Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 511607, Base PCGS# 99942)
