Description
1928-S Peace Dollar, MS65
A Series Key in Gem Condition
1928-S $1 MS65 NGC. Mint State 1928-S Peace dollars are seen
with regularity on the market today, but most are in the lower
grade levels of Uncirculated, as they are poorly struck and/or
heavily bagmarked. NGC and PCGS have certified several thousand
pieces through near-Gem, but full Gem coins are another story.
Indeed, the two services have seen barely more than 100 MS65s, and
a mere two examples finer; moreover, these population figures have
changed little in the past decade.Delicate golden-tan color bathes intensely lustrous surfaces, and the strike is strong, especially on the normally weak centers. Close inspection under magnification shows just a few minute marks, fewer perhaps than what might be expected for the grade. From the #5 NGC Registry Set of Peace dollars, circulation issue (all coins). Census: 43 in 65, 1 finer (10/17).
