Description

Gem Proof 1858 Three Cent Silver

1858 PR 65 NGC. The Type Two three-cent silver is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly sought out type coins in U.S. numismatics. Its short life span of only 5 years for the type, and 1858 being the only year generally found in proof, make this date a perennial favorite of both collectors and investors alike. This is a lovely piece with deeply reflective fields and mottled mauve and russet toning interspersed over the still-brilliant underlying surfaces. From the Green Mountain Collection of high grade type. Population: 11 in 65, only 12 finer (4/98).

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27C5, PCGS# 3705, Greysheet# 3661)

Weight: 0.75 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
