1793 S-9, B-12 Wreath Cent, XF40
Early Intermediate Die State
1793 1C Wreath Cent, Vine and Bars XF40 PCGS. CAC. S-9, B-12,
R.2. Breen Die State III. This is an early intermediate die
state in Breen's sequence of nine different die states, showing
delicate obverse clash marks and two reverse die cracks through
RICA. One crack begins at the border over I and angles down through
CA to the right stem and ribbon. The other crack begins at the
border over R and progress through that letter to a berry
spray.The S-9, B-12 die pairing is the most common Wreath cent variety, although infrequently found in higher grades. This piece has splendid light brown surfaces with trivial marks of no consequence, and some of those marks remain from the planchet before this piece was struck. A delightful representative for a date or type collector. Our EAC grade VF35.
