Not Sold Description
Scarce Near-Gem 1896-S Half Dollar
1896-S 50C MS64 PCGS. The 1896-S is every bit as challenging as its modest mintage of just over 1.1 million pieces would suggest and enjoys the added benefit of its well known Quarter counterpart. In addition to this coin's attractive, frosty sheen and virtually untoned surfaces, both sides display an exceptional crispness of detail that is characteristic of the issue. Just a bit of light chatter on Liberty's neck precludes Gem status. Population: 16 in 64, 13 finer (4/05).(#6476) (Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24LX, PCGS# 6476, Greysheet# 6587)
