Description

1854 Type Two Gold Dollar, Sharply Detailed MS63

1854 G$1 Type Two MS63 PCGS. This is a lustrous orange-gold example of the premier Type Two gold dollar, generally frosty and with a bit of reflectivity visible on the obverse over NI. The strike is quite strong for the date, with all lettering and numerals bold and intricate detail over Liberty's portrait. Surface abrasions are visible but not prominent, in line with the grade, with perhaps the only notable one being a vertical mark below Liberty's head. An attractive, Select example of this popular type, probably destined for a type collection with emphasis on eye appeal.
