1860-S Five Dollar, AU55 Details
Rare Low Mintage Issue

1860-S $5 -- Cleaned -- ANACS. AU55 Details. Like most pre-1878 San Francisco half eagle issues, the 1860-S is rare in grades that approach Mint State. Only 21,200 pieces were struck, and few if any were saved for numismatic purposes until decades later. This apricot-gold example has relatively few bagmarks. Careful rotation reveals parallel hairlines, more noticeable on the obverse.(Registry values: P7)
