Description
Glittering 1885 Liberty Half Eagle PR64 Cameo
1885 $5 PR64 Cameo PCGS. Mint records indicate that 66 proof Half Eagles were produced in 1885, while the number of survivors is likely to be fewer than half of that figure. This lovely near-Gem exhibits warmly frosted devices that appear to float atop glassy, near-bottomless fields. This coin has the eye appeal, if not the technical quality of a full Gem grade, being held back in that regard by the presence of a few wispy obverse hairlines. We do note a thin, vertical planchet depression on the back of Liberty's neck which is so slight that is doesn't come into focus without magnification.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28CN, PCGS# 88480, Greysheet# 9240)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
