Description
Key Date 1936 Proof Walking Liberty Half, Gem Preservation
1936 50C PR65 PCGS. The first proof Walking Liberty Half Dollars emerged from the presses in the Philadelphia Mint in 1936. Only 3,901 specimens were delivered that year, and this issue has long been regarded as the key to the proof Walker series of 1936-1942. This carefully preserved Gem displays smooth surfaces beneath a dusting of more or less even golden-tan patina. Some orange tinged iridescence is noted in select areas toward the centers. Both sides are crisply impressed with deep, mirrored reflectivity.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27V4, PCGS# 6636, Greysheet# 6764)
