Description

1921 Morgan Dollar with an Adjustment Strike and a Misaligned Obverse Die

1921 $1 Morgan Dollar--Obverse Misaligned, Die Adjustment Strike--Ungraded NGC. NGC has not ventured a grade for this rare and desirable mint error. Luster glimmers from the borders of both sides, and in terms of remaining luster, this piece merits an AU designation. Because it is an adjustment strike, the strike is very soft along the right side margins, and the peripheries of the design are also weak, as made. The obverse die is also misaligned several degrees toward 12 o'clock, which affects only the denticles in that area. A lightly toned cream-gray final year Morgan Dollar that has several moderate marks on the cheek and neck. Significant Morgan Dollar errors are rarely encountered, and the error combination of a misaligned die and an adjustment strike may be unique to the present piece.
