1716 Clemente XI Cast Lead Medal
1716 Clemente XI Cast Medal Lead, 88.5 mm, 331.4 gm. Anno XVI. A massive piece that is likely a later casting made from original dies, as evinced by a large die crack from 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock on the obverse. Impressive allegorical scenes on both sides, with UTIMENTEM DOMINUM GLORIFICAT, or "use your mind to master glory", at the upper obverse periphery. Clemente XI was Pope from 1700 until his death in 1721.Auction Info
