Description

1863 H10C MS65 PCGS. Just 18,000 business strikes were issued of the 1863 half dime near the height of Civil War uncertainty. Few actually entered circulation. Instead, many were quickly melted and, to the benefit of today's collector, a few hundred coins were hoarded at the time of issue. This richly toned Gem is layered in milky, mottled hues of steel-gray, amber, and emerald-green. At least one of our catalogers would want me to mention that the 1 in the date is recut. Housed in a green label PCGS holder. Population: 24 in 65, 29 finer (7/06).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 234C, PCGS# 4382, Greysheet# 3791)

Weight: 1.24 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
