Deep Obverse Die Cap 1996 Lincoln Cent
1996 Lincoln cent 1C --Obverse Die Cap--MS68 Red NGC. Unlike most die caps, this example has a nearly uniform height around the entire circumference, and is quite deep, having experienced numerous cycles in the press. The color is fully brilliant orange where the copper plating is intact, light gray in other areas where the zinc is visible. The reverse has little or no remaining image from the initial strike. The die cap is too deep to be encapsulated in an NGC holder, instead, this lot is accompanied by an NGC photo certificate of the error and the NGC insert.(#3136) (Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22JU, PCGS# 3136, Greysheet# 2310)
