Description

XF Flowing Hair 1795 Dollar
Three Leaves, B-5, BB-27

1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves XF40 NGC. B-5, BB-27, R.1. The thin raised line or "bar" behind the highest neck curl is a mint-made diagnostic for the familiar Bolender-5 variety. This attractive example has dove-gray devices that mildly contrast with deeper battleship-gray fields. A single diagonal adjustment mark, as made, is seen beneath Liberty's ear, but no post-strike detractions are present, given its moderately circulated status. The 1794 is a coveted and costly rarity, so collectors are compelled to select a 1795 Flowing Hair dollar to fulfill their early silver type sets.
