Description

1884 $5 MS62 PCGS. Glowing, satiny brilliance is overlaid in reddish-gold patina. A squiggly mark is noticed in the obverse field, the only deterrent to a higher grade. An often overlooked P-mint, the 1884 is second in Mint State scarcity only to the tiny mintage 1889 among Philadelphia Half Eagles from this decade. Population: 16 in 62, 13 finer (4/03).
