Description
1970-D 1C Lincoln Cent--Struck on a Split Planchet--NGC. 1.5 grams. The planchet split in two along the edge prior to the strike. As a result, the planchet was too thin to fill the spacing between the dies, and the strike is quite soft, although the first three digits in the date are bold, as is part of the final date digit and the upper half of the mintmark. Striations from the inner planchet are still present in places on the obverse, where not fully struck out.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 2927, Greysheet# 312829)
