Description

Pleasing Near-Gem Grant With Star Half Dollar

1922 50C Grant with Star MS64 PCGS. With only 4,256 of the Star variety produced, the Grant was one of the early 1920s commemoratives that created artificial varieties with design changes, a practice made infamous by later issues in the 1930s. This example has light gold patina at the periphery and pearl-gray surfaces with heavy die polish. A few small marks on the obverse preclude Gem status for this sharply struck piece.
