Description
Captivating 1847-C Quarter Eagle, AU58
1847-C $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. The only variety known. The 1847-C, the most available Charlotte Mint quarter eagle, nonetheless experiences high demand from type collectors as well as collectors of branch mint gold. However, most certified survivors are in the XF or lower AU grades. This is an attractive, well-struck example that shows generous amounts of remaining mint luster. Rich reddish patina is seen over each side. Census: 39 in 58, 33 finer (7/09).From The Thrifty Scot Collection.(Registry values: P2)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25H6, PCGS# 7745, Greysheet# 8355)
Weight: 4.18 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
