Shining Near-Mint 1865 Double Eagle

1865 $20 AU58 NGC. The mint luster is nearly complete and the strike is crisp throughout. The surfaces reveal some small abrasions, but do not significantly detract from the coin's overall eye appeal. Prior to the discovery of the S.S. Republic, this issue was generally only seen in VF and XF condition. That discovery put more than 300 AU to Gem pieces on the market.(Registry values: N1793)
