Description
1804 1/2 C Spiked Chin. C-6, B-6, R.2. Die State 3. VF35 NGC. Fine 15 EAC. Braig State 2.2. Spiked Chin; Wide fraction, low numerator. A short crack connects the left side of C in AMERICA to the rim. There is no evidence of a second crack to the rim from the left top of O in OF. In his article, Gene Braig assigned tentative rarity ratings to each of his illustrated die states. The most common die state rarity is R.4. Braig State 2.2 is listed as High R.6. It should be remembered that the assignment of any rarity rating is a moving target, and short of a physical count, any attempt to record rarity ratings for specific die states within a variety is guesswork at best. Lovely chestnut obverse and mahogany reverse. The surfaces have moderate abrasions and a few faint old scratches.Ex: George Ramont (9/1967). Envelope Included.(Registry values: P4)
